Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this discussion. However, I’ve read in the official dress regulations that sunglasses are appropriate for wear in any dress. With that said, there’s nothing that states the actual wear of the sunglasses. The obvious answer would be for the face but how about on the head when not worn on the face? If there’s any actual info about this, I would love to have the appropriate ammo regarding this. Seems silly to me to not be able to wear sunglasses on the head when indoors.

That should be fine, as long as the sunglasses were completely concealed under your beret. Otherwise, somebody one rank or more above you will probably comment unfavourably.

Pockets are not just for hands, and most uniforms have a selection from which to choose.

Yeah, seems kinda dumb to me to not be able to wear sunglasses on the head. Have a bit picky Sgt so just checking to see if there’s a legitimate rule against it or one that favours it. This, this is a hill I’d die on

A nit picky Sgt is a Sgt that one day may save your ass from further trouble. Deal with it and do what you're damn well told.

I’d certainly hope so but he’s a “do as I say not as I do” type guy.

Yes, "child", those who have been doing something - probably better than you ever will - for many years, often in actual combat conditions, without killing the wrong people, and surviving.

But why bother maintaining any standards at all?

I'm gonna guess you are RCAF or RCN and are asking to wear them on the top of the brim of your ball cap.

Here are your options:

1.
no (2).jpg

This will most likely be a no, although I don't get a lot of flak transiting from my office to outside looking like this.

2.
yes (2).jpg

This is acceptable.

I want pictures if someone tries this one...

Like @Loachman said; pockets are an option, too.

Good luck!!

Look, I’m understanding what you’re saying. You’re probably not understanding what I’m saying. I’m just seeing if there are any standards that explicitly says to not have sunglasses on the head. Not just some persons word, all I’m getting at.

Haha, love the examples. But no, not wearing a headdress of any form. Just simple glasses on the head (on hair or if you’re bald, on the skin of the head).

So...

you want to wear sunglasses on top of your head indoors? That is what I'm taking away from that...

Otherwise, I'm fairly certain the only time you'd be outdoors with no headdress is either at sea on a ship (no issue with sunglasses there), on an active airfield (but wouldn't you be wearing a helmet? Or possibly the glasses then become a form of FOD) or in a smoke pit (see rules for at sea on ship).

Maybe I just need a specific scenario and not a generalized question...
