Not too sure if I got this in the right spot or not.

A couple of questions:
1. Is there any reason why a CF member would not be allowed to seek health care outside of the CF?
2. Can a CF member hold a provincial health plan? (i.e. OHIP, Alberta Health Care, etc.)

Both questions are reference Reg force BTW.

1.  A CF member can use outside health services if referred by a CF doctor.  Also, you are allowed to use emergency services outside normal working hours.
2.  No.  We have a Blue Cross card.

My understanding is that for Regular Force members on leave in the Toronto area, Dennison Armoury is the one and only place they must go. Is that so?
Unless, as Moe stated, it is an emergency outside normal working hours.

If you are within a reasonable distance (can't recall what the distance is) of a CF Health Services Centre during working hours while on leave, you are to go to that H Svcs C.

To add to Moe's answers:

1. You can seek outside health care, but you're responsible for the bills. Any bills for services that show up at your local CF clinic are sure to raise questions. In addition, you are obligated to inform the CF of any health related matter.
2. No. The Canada Health Act prohibits members of the CF from participating in provincial health plans.

The CF is obliged to provide you with health care. You can ask for a referral for a second opinion (at the cost of the CF), but your day to day care is the CF's responsibility.

Just in case someone is on leave and needs medical care; here is what the leave pass says:

Within Canada
1. In an emergency, (a threat to life or limb) call 911  (where available)

2. For injuries not threatening life or limb, the 24/7 CF Health Information Line at 1-877-MED-DENT (1-877-633-3368 will provide addresses and hours of civilian facilities within your location as well as guidance on the type of care required.

3. When health care is obtained from a civilian provider, you must present both your CF Photo Identification Card and your CF Health Care Identification Card.

4. If you receive medical/dental care on leave, you shall report to your unit medical/dental office on return from leave.

Hopefully nobody needs this information over leave.
