Rainfall Warning for Southern Alberta

Rainfall - afternoon to early morning Friday.

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A low pressure system moving across the northern United States will continue to bring significant rainfall to southern Alberta overnight and through wednesday. As of 4 pm today portions of southwestern Alberta including Pincher Creek Cardston and Claresholm have recieved from 60 to 80 mm of rain. Further north and east from 30 to 50 mm of rain has been recorded thus far. Additional Rainfall amounts of 60 to 120 millimetres are expected before rainfall tapers off Thursday morning. The highest rainfall amounts are still expected to occur in the extreme southwest corner of the province where storm totals may exceed 200 mm. This warning will be updated regularly as new information becomes available.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
