Hello,

After constant research, I'm pretty sure I k ow the answer to my own question.. But I figured there's still no harm in asking.

I'm currently 18 and two years ago I was falsely accused and charged of something that took place in 2008, back when I was 12. Believe it or not, for the last two years I've been fighting this charge and its finally coming to an end. Now.. Due to a technicality in the law, I was automatically found guilty despite even the judge believing me.. So its been quite an unfortunate situation. Now.. My court proceedings still aren't finished but are set to be completed next month.. For which the crown is seeking probation.

*exhales*

Now.. I already applied last month, was accepted, and I am set to write my aptitude test in a few days.. But from my understanding.. With going through all this court stuff it completely eliminates me from continuing the application process correct?

Now.. Assuming the answer is no.. You cannot continue with it... Should I even continue and write my test?

For CAF recruiting you must be free of any legal obligations, this includes mandatory court (or not necessarily mandatory by law but an expected requirement to attend as well), probations, suspensions, sentences, to which a pardon HAS not been granted.

You must inform the CFRC immediately of the ongoing legal proceedings. Hopefully your application will simply be put on hold and kept open,  but likely they will close it altogether. You will likely not be able to take the CFAT or anything beyond.

Thank you for your response, this is what I thought. Having opened an application now.. And practically wasting their time, will this hinder me from reapplying once everything is up? What's the best way to go about it so its closed under good terms?

Why not have your lawyer push for an absolute or conditional discharge, given that the judge seems to believe your story?  That would seem to solve your problem.

Well that's the next step, my lawyer will be moving forward to appeal it and have it dropped entirely. My only point is.. Considering my test is Thursday.. And my next court date isn't till next month I should let them know before correct? And from what the other user posted they'll most likely close it until its all over anyhow right?

Okay, thanks for the answers guys! I know this isn't the end completely of my chances getting in.. Just something that will pit it on pause. Thanks again.

Your criminal conviction will be under the youth justice act, so for what it's worth once your legal obligations are discharged you will not be saddled with the burden of an adult criminal record, for what that's worth.
