I recognize an A&D Manu. rig on that C-9 gunner; excellent piece of kit, I just picked one up myself.

Stay safe,

Infanteer

Beleive it or not it is the issue TacVest (just bulging out past the seams with the kit in it)
He ordered a A&D CADPAT AR vest though.

Wow, really bulging.  That is what you get when you give dismounted guys a general purpose, please everyone vest....

How many guys are using A&D rigs over their, sounds like they are starting to becoming quite common.  D. says he is quite busy with the design.

Beleive it or not the 1 Svc Bn Btl Gp here has now forbidden 3VP and 1VP from using any non issue kit  :o

Seems like truckers and bean counters don't beileve we need different kit to do our job (while their kit stays in their barracks box.)

So we are forced now to wear the issue TV  ::) and even better the Bianchi UM84 holster - even though it is not made for our pistol but the American Beretta M9 (and is unsafe and insecure in it).

Just take out one of your mags from the mag pouch and put in the pistol in, it works great!

:cdn:

The Service battalion has always been known as a high-speed and forward thinking bumch of switched on soldiers! ::)

Having worked with them in the past I can sympathize with your situation believe me!

No it works - not great - damn slow and not very secure - plus you are down to 3 mags - where do the other 6 (7th is in the weapon) go?

- secondly for those in LAV's or other vehicle you cant really use your tacvest while crewing the vehicle ---

But thanks for the opinion  :-*

Circus Battalion is running the show?  Talk about the tail wagging the dog...

Its obviously not true but I have to tell you, the NSE is pretty keen...and they are calling them EME Seals.  ;)

I think Kevin might be a little bit jealous.  ;)  What's up with pulling a pistol on a wall anyway?

Cheers,

;D
Offering my thought to Usama...

It is a joke - the 1Svc Bn Btl Gp

We just wanted a tour to go and dig out the vermin, not what we got.

EME Seals....
I wonder how long it will take for that rumor to spread around and pop up in the recruiting forum :)

We just wanted a tour to go and dig out the vermin, not what we got.

As I mentioned to you before, its a shitty job for six months.  I don't envy you fellows.  If its any consolation, you guys are doing a great job!  :salute:

Its EME SEALS  ;)

They hate it when you don't capitalize I hear...

;D

Calling them that comes from higher than me...

Gunner: thanks
PM inbound

I'll second the comment that wearing Tac-Vests while crewing a vehicle doesn't work too well.  Tried attaching my pouches to my IBA and constantly got hung up in the turret and hatches.  Worked much better to have a "clean" IBA/Ballistic vest to wear in the vehicle, then don a separate LBV for patrols/dismounted work.

We get alot of guys in the Marines and entire units that are making it SOP to attach their MOLLE pouches directly to the IBA.  For line guys it's not so bad, or even for the scouts in LAR that ride in the back of the 25's, but for crewmen...forget about it.

Another serious disadvantage to doing away with a separate LBV and mounting everything on your IBA is operating in a MOPP environment.  IBA is worn under the MOPP suit (at least in the USMC) to avoid contamination of the vest.  It's alot cheaper and logistically efficient to swap out a contaminated LBV than it is a ballistic vest.  If your IBA is under your MOPP suit, you need a dedicated LBV to carry your gear.

Nice Photos :)  How is it in Afghanistan... Last night they called for volunteers to put in their name to go on the next ROTO (I think...) and I'm likely going to put my name down for it.  Chances I won't get it though :P  Well, what would the chances be for an 18 year old Reserve Infanteer been in for over 2 years now? I am probably getting my DP2 Comms or Driver course this fall, but do they need just Riflemen to fill in the holes?

None of the 031 postions in Afghan are for reservists.

R031's have line serials in CIMIC or in the Mirage D&D Pl.
