Merit listed in 3 weeks

around the end of April I sent my application in and on may 2nd I went to winnipeg for tests and interview.  by I think 22nd My medical was back and I was in for semi skilled vehicle tech and merit listed.  On June 10th I was called by the final person who needed one paper, wich I dont have, but they said if I dont have a job offer by the 17th I should call them.  My recruiter said I should expect to be in Quebec by beginning of july.  I m living at the gym that "fat camp" in basic doesnt sound like fun. 

p.s. I read alot of kit upgrades, like tack vests, helmet pads, etc.  Are these upgrades needed? and or allowed? if so, to what extent?
