Hello,

Looking for some advice and information to plan out release from CF. For quality of life and other reasons I am looking at work with public service. I have enjoyed work with CF and feel proud, but decisions have been made. Looking to plan and research release process to ensure as smooth a transition from CF to next job, and to make sure it gets done properly.

Have some information but looking for info from members out there who might be able to fill in some gaps.

So situation would be:
DEO officer, trade qualified and experienced but with less than 20yrs in, do not owe any yrs and in no rush to get out of CF, but is planned for next 6months to yr. Medically and physically fit and have no work issues or problems.

Best advice for anyone approaching their last five years of Service, and you fall well within that category, is to start attending SCAN Seminars.  Approach the Release Section on your Base and ask them questions as to what you require if you want to go on the SUPP List, CT to the Reserves, go on PRL, etc.  The Release Section should be able to give you an idea as to what penalties or benefits you are entitled to on Release.  They can also give you information on whether or not you have a Pension, and if you do, what options you have to transfer it to a Civil Service job if that is your plan.

SCAN Seminars and Release Section have the best resources to help you in these matters.

A new CANFORGEN (CANFORGEN 004/09  CMP 003/09)came out today and if you can access its links from work, this may help.  It lists all the policies that you may need to ref to such as:
Pay
Allowances
Leave
Relocation
Foreign Service
Domestic Benefits
Dependent Education Management
Severance & Gratuities
