EXTREME DRAG RACE SHOOTOUT NEWS“We had always wanted to express our thanks to Military Personnel and their families for the many sacrifices they make for us on a continual basis. With the strong presence of Military Forces in the Maritime Provinces of Canada, the site of the 2008 Extreme Drag Race Shootout August 1-3, 2008, we felt that this would be a fantastic opportunity to do just that." explains Event Director, Raymond Knight. "The EDRS will provide FREE entry for any active military personnel from anywhere in the world (with current "active duty" military ID/credentials) and their family into the Extreme Drag Race Shootout." Knight continues, "We've been working on this for about a year now, but we wanted to do it right and get the blessing of the local military, as they will have the bulk of attendees, and also try to have them involved in the event itself". EDRS Staff went to work on the challenge and contacted Public Relations Offices at key military Bases in the area however, we urge ALL military personnel to attend and simply enjoy the weekend we have to offer; it is a well deserved rest.

Chadder, Commander, CFB Gagetown stated. No sir, it is thank you from the EDRS. Thank you, and all those that serve to keep our countries free so that we are able to create and enjoy events like the Extreme Drag Race Shootout and Lucas Oil Products World Street II. Active military personnel from any country in the world need only present their current, valid active duty Military ID at the spectator entrance gate to gain free entry for themselves, their spouse and children.The EDRS also hope to have an expanded military presence during the event in the form of uniformed personnel and a display on the EDRS interactive midway.
The Extreme events were created to partner with communities, their Police and youth to help show kids that there was a way and place that would get them off the streets and into a safe and controlled environment for motorsports. The event then grew into the Extreme Drag Race Shootout which has developed into a large family festival revolving around professional motorsports and Extreme Drag Racing. In 2008 hundreds of competitors at the top of the sport from 4 different countries are planning to participate, and the grounds of Miramichi Dragway Park will be transformed into a family festival complete with Media, Family and Community support events all weekend long. We have the complete and overwhelming support of the City, the Miramichi Police Force and the entire business community, it seems that everywhere we turn we continue to experience Atlantic Canadian hospitality that is second to none! Well the secrets out, and in 2008 tens of thousands more people from everywhere imaginable will know what this part of world has to offer!
