Just a quick note to all of you folks heading to St Jean / Borden or any other training base for that matter.  This story below is now fairly wide spread info among current military members, but may not be so well known to new members or recruits.

Read below and take this type of information to heart.  This could and will happen again.

This story was provided by CTV ...

The woman who is facing charges for allegedly engaging in unprotected sex at a Canadian military base without informing her partner that she was HIV-positive appeared in court Thursday.

She was ordered to remain in custody until April 11th to face assault charges.

The accused arrived at the Barrie, Ont. courtroom in the morning and sat in the prisoner's box, appearing to be "nervous and disheveled," CTV Toronto's John Musselman reported.

She sat in the prisoner's box until a court clerk gave her a note, saying that her lawyer needed to talk to her.

When the accused noticed that an artist was sketching her, she put her hand up to shield her face, Musselman reported.

In an interview with a producer at one of CTV's local stations on Tuesday night, the woman said the story had been blown out of proportion and had been distorted.

Jennifer Murphy, 31, who is reportedly not a member of the military, faces two counts of aggravated assault following an alleged sexual relationship she had with a young soldier at Canadian Forces Base Borden.

Investigators with the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service have said they do not know how many men she may have slept with.

"We are truly hopeful there are no other individuals out there but we do have indications there may be," said Petty Officer Ted Lee, who is leading the probe at CFB Borden.

An undisclosed number of other soldiers have come forward, investigators say.

Meanwhile, the Defence Department sent a notice to all Canadian Forces personnel suggesting they seek medical attention if they have had sexual contact with the accused.

The accused had been staying on the base in the family housing area with a friend.

In a news release, investigators allege the woman frequented the single-living quarters on the base, making "direct sexual advances to male residents."

Because of privacy concerns, no further details of the case are being released.

CFB Borden is mainly a training facility. Around 15,000 soldiers, sailors and air personnel rotate through every year as students.

Under the law, someone can't consent to sex if they are not fully informed about their partner's HIV status.
