Stay a while and listen;
I am merely an applicant and I have a story to tell, this particular story illustrates a portion of my desire to exit civilian life.

I work "security" at a hospital; an extra post had popped up in which your responsibilities were to simply watch a door as it was designated a fire exit and could not be locked, etc. I am the patrol guard. The guard that was assigned the door watch had never been on site before but I explained to him his responsibilities and also stated, "If you need to go outside for a smoke later - I will come relieve you." It was a night shift, his shift began at 2000 but he arrived at ~2010. My partner, another patrol guard, happened to pass by the post at 2100(lockups) and it smelled heavily of marijuana. My younger partner questioned him as to seeing anyone in the area to which he responded he had not and gave no indication of smelling anything suspicious. When I escorted him to the post the prior guard on post and I did not smell anything. So my partner asked me to get a second opinion - I too confirmed the smell, interrogated him more thoroughly and also stepped inside the washroom nearby and the smell was much stronger in there. The unnameable guard on post told me he had seen an old man use the washroom - more inconsistent story. I then also reviewed the camera footage, no one else is seen on cameras in the area (or entering the washroom) between when I escorted him to the post and when we discovered the smell (2010-2100). So, not even 40 minutes into his shift (2045) he is seen on camera entering the washroom (effectively leaving his post) to smoke marijuana. I suppose you would need to see the orientation of the area, but there is no doubt in my mind or my partners'. My partner and I immediately called our superiors to which we were told, "Keep it on the down low" - we are a contracted company. A boss arrived on site at 0100 the next day, and continued to state "it could have been the food he was eating" and "he is a slow talker so he may have seemed impaired". This guard that smoked marijuana inside a hospital during operating hours not even 40 minutes into his shift (and I am almost sure after the fact he arrived stoned) makes $13.50/hour whilst I make $10.96. It was also probably an overtime shift for him. Furthermore I then called my boss the following week to followup with the incident as I was informed that no disciplinary action was taken; my boss stated, "He could sue you for defamation of character," among other things. :facepalm: Furthermore still I also work alongside in-house security in which they make $25/hour or more and have security equipment provided to them whilst my team is only allowed to wear slash vests we pay for underneath our uniforms. :facepalm: These in-house security guards do not seem anymore capable than I, and most of them smoke cigarettes. :facepalm: I suppose I won't even go into the problems with nursing staff, to be brief I report physical evidence of psychiatric patients' using illegal substances or leaving grounds without the privilege or they stay away for longer than their privilege, etc., and yet nothing ever comes of it. Are these isolated incidents? Should citizens even concern themselves with civilians? Do these people even understand the effects on their body or even our economy? Perpetual cycles. Staff are utterly unenthusiastic. :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm:

The inefficiency in the world...  :2c:

Please share with me your stories..  :)
Perhaps this is a rant and I apologize but it feels gooooood.
