Hi everyone,
I’m 39 years old with a degree in software development. I spent six years working as a software developer and another eight years running my own business in the cybersecurity field. Having achieved a lot in my career, I strongly feel it’s time to give back to my country. With that in mind, I’m considering joining the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as a reservist in a cybersecurity role e.g Cyber Operator.
I have a few questions for those who might be familiar with the process:
1. Would the CAF consider someone with my background (39 years age) and experience for a role as a cybersecurity reservist?
2. If accepted, would I need to relocate to Ottawa, or is it possible to serve remotely with only occasional travel? I assume a few days on-site per month may be required, which I’m happy to accommodate. Would that be acceptable?
I’d appreciate any insights or advice from those who have experience or knowledge in this area.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and respond!
