You have to ask?Why are we bothering?
And the operational role of the CT-114 is…what? You have to ask?
Canada has lost the ability buy a new platform. But can still just maybe get an "upgrade" through the system.
See CH149, LAV Up, etc
To remind taxpayers we have an air force. And the operational role of the CT-114 is…what?
Because Canadians love them and no politician is willing to spend the political capital to disband them. It would be career suicide. To remind taxpayers we have an air force.

Oh, what would you know….If you mean the CH-147D's bought from the US Army and transferred intra-theatre from Bagram to Kandahar, yes.
CH-147F most definitely not. As dapaterson said, those followed the existing procurement policies of the day. The OAG may have had issues with some of the elements of how they were accomplished, but they were all pursuant to the Defence Services Program: ID, Options Analysis, Definition, Implementation and Close Out. Even CH-147D (Interim Medium Lift Capability - IMLC) reviewed a number of options to provide the required capability consistent with Government's implementation of the recommendations in the Manley Report.
