CSOR and mosid

Good day,

I have some questions that hopefully someone can answer as I have searched for awhile and asked around and
Havent gotten any clear answers. 

I am currently in a support trade in an infantry unit and it’s the hardest part about it is being on the outside looking in at the job I want.  My trade is red and infantry is now full so theres little chance of getting accepted for an OT.  So CSOR looks like a very good way to get out and and get a real job (no offense my fellow WOG's).  So my question is, it says on the CSOR site that if going operator you still remain your current mosid;  But seeing how on completion of the SOBQ its safe to say your more qualified and speacialized than that of a DP1 infanteer.  So if you were to leave csor would you have the option to be infantry or would you have to return to your original mosid? 

And also Ive heard a rumour that if you do go operator and you are not a 031 that you get to wear an infantry to cap badge, which in a way makes sense.
Because I know if I was a operator I wouldn’t wanna continue wearing my support trade badge.

You heard wrong. I know for a fact that support trades guys who have become operators wear thier own trade badge. And when you are an operator, why does it matter what badge you wear on your beret?

Leaving CSOR you would return to your original trade. At that time you would also have a solid file to put forward for a transfer out of your Support trade into Combat Arms (depending on your service within CSOR, of course).

You wear your CSS cap badge. But who cares? You're judged on ability, not fashion.

As for the cap badge, i guess your right it doesnt really matter... i just thought it would be something you earned along with the tan beret after becoming an operator.

Just keep in mind that you will still most likely do signals related stuff, even as an operator. Since signals is a specialty (or a curse) you will still be relied on for lots of radio stuff.. especially carrying it.

Hey i have no problem carrying it as long as im out there haha.  That's actually the job the recruiter said I would be doing as a sig op...

But its expected even as a operator to do sigs stuff if you know the systems.  Some good transferable skills can come from sigs.

Sig ops who are operators wear thier own capbadge.

Man, you as a sig op and an operator....think your skills wont be needed? CANSOFCOM as a whole love to have those close support specialties like sigs and medics to do the SOBQ. Tell you though, it is a tough challenge to be a good operator and a great specialist.

If you actually like your job, and want to be challenged in every way, go give'r a try.

Go ahead and consider yourself a WOG, but don't insult everyone else in the trade as many Sigs have done far more than just working in a BN CP.

If you want to go into CSOR, email their recruiting cell get whatever info they can give you. If you still want in, submit your application and try out.

I believe there is a Qual badge now for those who have completed SOBQ. Search the forums for more info on it.

Also, everyone in CANSOFCOM wears the tan beret, not just CSOR Operators.

I was just speaking in generalities of sigs as the majority are doing jobs like that.  i know that being signaller for the PRT and OMLT is a very good go, but there are very few spots as many sig op's go for those posistions so its hard to get.  But fingers crossed eh
