OTTAWA — The Commander of Canadian Expeditionary Force Command, Lieutenant-General Marc Lessard, will relinquish command to Lieutenant-General Stuart Beare during a change of command ceremony on Thursday. The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walter Natynczyk, will preside over the ceremony, which will also be attended by the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, and the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence.
Details of the ceremony are as follows:
When: Thursday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m.
Where: Cartier Square Drill Hall, 2 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ottawa
There will be a brief media availability following the ceremony, during which time the new Commander of Canadian Expeditionary Force Command, Lieutenant-General Beare, will be available to take questions from the media.
Media wishing to attend are requested to pre-register no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, by contacting Captain Jennifer Stadnyk, Canadian Expeditionary Force Command (CEFCOM) Public Affairs, at 613-993-6250.
Media should arrive at the Cartier Square Drill Hall no later than 10:30 a.m. on September 1, and will be required to show their media credentials.
