can one participate in contact sports after laser eye surgery?

I know a lot of people here have gone through the procedure and i was curious as to what the official stance was? I currently do kyokushin karate and judo, I have heard various opinions on the matter - some ranging from yes you will be able to still do them, to no, the nature of these two sports is too rough and not advisable.
