One can only assume the mom has used this ploy before, and the boy knew his role; "OK son, mommy's taking home that army guy over there tonight....you know what to do."

That is, however, just supposition; while the detail isn't included in the story, it certainly fits the woman's behaviour.

No, I'd say not. They just seem to be very experienced with the hunting tactics of cougars. Apparently, they see them everywhere -- whether hot chick is confirmed to be an actual cougar ... or not.
