I am heading to BMOQ shortly and was wondering when we will transition to BMOQ A, as well as DP1 and DP2. How long are the DP1 and DP2 modules, and where will they take place? Will these phases be continuous, or will there be breaks in between? If there are breaks, where will we be stationed, or will we be placed on unpaid leave?

If you're Regular Force you are paid 24/7 until you release or you request a leave without pay. Between courses youll be given OJT work somewhere.

In addition to Puckchaser's point I will offer the following. I will speak in broad generalities.

Assuming you are a Regular Force DEO, once you pass BMOQ they will most likely send you to Gagetown New Brunswick. As a officer who has not completed all the Developmental Period 1 (DP 1) courses you will belong to the BTL (Basic Training List). The Infantry School at Gagetown runs the majority of the BMOQ-A serials, but some have been exported to the regional training centres. It is roughly 12 weeks long. You could arrive from CFLRS and be loaded almost immediately on BMOQ-A, or you might have to wait a while. This happens automatically behind the scenes, but eventually you get loaded on a serial. You will be employed On The Job Experience (OJE) while you await training. The type of OJE experience will vary. At a minimum, though, you will have a supervisor, a job to do and you will be paid. You will be in quarters. The more training/experience you have can also affect the type of OJE you do. Someone awaiting BMOQ-A will likely have a different OJE than someone awaiting DP 1.2.

I believe that DP 1.1 and DP 1.2 Artillery are each roughly three months long. Whether you flow smoothly from DP 1.1 to DP 1.2 will depend on how many 2Lts are awaiting training and the School's training calendar. The training system does not want to keep you in the school any longer than it needs to! They want to get you DP 1 qualified and off their books. If you do face some prolonged periods awaiting a course my only advice is to be patient, maintain a good attitude and stay fit.

Good luck!
