You missed the first part of the discussion where D&B said that the new tasks were very defensive and that they missed the whole concept of "Close with and destroy the enemy" Then he just quoted Gen Hillier as his come back.
N_P I concur that it is a good standard for as the basics for all...
That is the roll of the infantry, it is not every on else's roll. It would not make sense for a hard Navy trade to train to do that. The test is the basic fitness level. If your trade or branch wants/needs some thing more then have at it.
They are some what water tight as per TTG's post.
No bilge pump there for no drainage system.
In order to put a trim vain on you just can weld it there and say "Voila" a trim vain so not that easy of a mod.
The hull mainly the front glacis plate is flat and square it needs to be angular like the...
Actually it takes more than that to make it amphibious. It all so needs to be water tight (big thing there) it also needs a bilge pump and drainage system, it would need a trim vain, and a boat like hull. It would also need to be designed so that it was evenly balanced when it was buoyant...
My son told me they did nothing at his school which doesn't surprise me as the also don't play the national anthem because they don't want to offend the foreign exchange students.
Close with and destroy the enemy is only important to be able to do for a very low percentage of the CAF. So that should be a speciality training for those that need it. Like balance and load a 50 lb round while spinning around in close confined spaces is for others.
jollyjacktar you are right there seems to to be less and less WWII vets every year. There was only 1 Down in Lunenburg last year and he said the only reason he was out was because the weather was so warm. My Dad hasn't gone to one in may years for the same reason.
Had a lecture today that all personal had to attend no passes and no excuses. So I had to cancel a mission to attend this formation. It was on winter driving safety. Now normally I'm all about this, how ever the lecture was given to us buy the 2 Motor pool Sgt's, one is from Alabama and the...
Depends on the unit and the person in charge. Use to be in the Strats if you sent a vehicle to the shop and no driver then it didn't get fixed. If the WO/Sgt doesn't have the balls to say Trooper/Pte so and so isn't going to be there for(insert what ever BS training) because he is in maintenance...
It would be nice to see 416 come back (i know this is weird for an army guy) I grew up in northern NB and use to watch 416 Voodoos fly over head playing war games with the Americans out of Loring AFB. I started out in air Cadets because I wanted to fly Voodoos. Our sqn would take a trip every...
I was on one of the last DR course in Germany, but never got to be one, it was one of the funnest courses I've ever done. Could we use them in recce sure.
This is true on the tanks the crew does most of the work and the Mecs do the tecnical stuff. The more responsiblity give to the crew/Driver the more time freed up for the Tecs.
"I'm sorry Sgt Maj but you as the commander on the ground don't get to decide if you need the QRF, us in the MCC (Mission control center) will decide if you need it or not" direct quote from a Sgt First Class when I had a one of my suburbans sitting on it's side in 3 feet of water with only 5...
