Geotechs on course at Algonquin are posted to Ottawa. At this time, only the unmarried Sappers are in the college residence. I don't know of anyone on the course that came to Ottawa on IR. There is one military couple not posted together, but I think the IR in that case is at the Petawawa end.
If COT = compulsory occupational transfer, due to course failure or other reason, then here are some answers based upon my very recent experience.
1. Closed is closed. Even some "open" are closed to reassignment. They might be open to SVOTP only.

Yes, the last IFR course graduated 5 out of 15. Some left the course in the first few weeks and others in the last few weeks. Even if you survive the academic side of the course, you never know when something aptitude related will catch up with you. Several of us are now looking at NCM...
If you are curious, then phone the recruiting centre to get a status update. In my case, I never got "the call" because I beat them to it by about 45 minutes! File manager was working on my file and about to phone me. :D
I couldn't see my typing in my previous reply, but I am happy to say I can see clearly now. Hopefully the fix was also applied to logging in (I'm not logged in forever) and anywhere else.

When is a Jan BMOQ typically filled? I understand that "it depends" but when waiting for something, it's nice to know if there is a chance to make it or if that possibility has already passed.
Many thanks to the previous crop of AECs who asked lots of questions. I'm sure I have read those threads too many times already, but what else is there while waiting on my CFRC? I guess I could watch the AEC recruiting videos again. I haven't quite memorized them yet :D
