"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Finally received my CT offer today! PRes MARS - Reg Pilot Posted to 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron in Comox starting July 29. It has been 3 years since I started the process, so I am having some difficulty believing it actually happened, just like that. Getting in was hard, especially the...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Congrats on the offers guys! I can imagine this is probably the happiest day of your lives for some of you. Anyone hear word on Component Transfer/Occupational Transfer DEO offers? Cheers

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

No, but they help. On average. In FACT, it does. For PFT at least. There was a study done to find out what the success rate was for people with previous flying experience(PFE) on CAPSS and PFT. As most know CAPSS has been proven an effective selection tool, probably why it is still in use...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

I was there in May 09. On my course there were 12 people. I was told they typically run a course every week/couple of weeks when they need to run them. If there are spots open then there are spots open, why would they tell you otherwise?

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Seems pretty quiet on the forum about any DEO Pilot offers. I wonder if they have started calling yet or if they are still putting things together.

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Awesome Will they be contacting only those accepted? Or will they also call the non-selected and tell them the situation? How long does it typically take to notify the selected? Cheers

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

"Zero Pilots getting hired in 2009?" topic always seemed to meĀ  to be weighed down by some gloomy air of inevitability and hopelessness. Many have humoured its accidental reference to the Japanese WWII plane, and rightly, because once the topic has exhausted itself shortly after the start of the...

Zero Pilots Being Hired in 2009?

When it comes to rating the apps, how important is previous flight experience?

Zero Pilots Being Hired in 2009?

In the private sector, the whole process from the date of application to finding out the result would typically take maybe a month at most. Here we are looking at years. So in my opinion it does change some things. For example if I knew I am 80th on the merit list, I would be applying to a...

Zero Pilots Being Hired in 2009?

Qualified as in "fit for pilot", successfully through the selection process. Why do you think the number is much less? They put at least 10-12 people through each aircrew selecton course, and there were, (at least until recently), a couple dozen of those courses held per year. That's at least...

Zero Pilots Being Hired in 2009?

When they DO open up DEO pilot again there will be what, 5-10 spots for 200-300 qualified individuals? I tried very hard and for a long time to figure out where I stand on the merit list in relation to the other qualified candidates. My contact in Ottawa offers no help. Is there really no way...

Zero Pilots Being Hired in 2009?

A couple of options that new applicants for pilot may want to consider are: 1. Get commissioned through the ranks. - Get a trade as an NCM and then transfer to Pilot. We all know that 0 DEO were hired this year. But I personally know of 2 CEOTP Pilot applicants that were offered slots this...

    September 2009 BMOQ !!!

Yes it does get somewhat complicated. 3 years ago, when I finally decided to pursue the military pilot career, I went to the CFRC Vancouver and asked some questions. Knowing that pilot is an extremely competitive trade I was particularly interested in the things I can do to improve my...

    September 2009 BMOQ !!!

    - I have been a naval reservist since March 2008, joined as a student. Could not do BMOQ that summer because of a work contract and obviously could not do winter because of school. This summer I could not go away because my ACS was in May. - So I have already completed ACS and AC medical...

    September 2009 BMOQ !!!

"So are you loaded onto Sept 7 BMOQ for MARS or Pilot?" - I am not loaded yet, but hoping to get loaded - I am still MARS, and likely will not be offered pilot until April 2010 if at all.(depending on how my file fares at the boards) "Hey i was wondering where you got the info from about no...

    September 2009 BMOQ !!!

You're right - I just got a confirmation that Sept 7 is the latest one before January. I am currently MARS reservist, but I've got a transfer application for Reg Force pilot, pending selection board in January 2010. What I've been told is that they will take Reg over Res but I'm hoping some...
