Anyone know what the operational impact of not having AETE would be? If we purchase 'off the shelf' and piggy bank on the upgrades of countries who operate larger fleets (no made in Canada solutions) could we get by without them? No disrespect intended, I guess I just don't fully comprehend...

Can only tell you what I know, which happens to be very little. I wouldn't think that you're too old and can tell you that training to Wings stnd takes between 3 to 5 yrs. At one time there was a reserve rotary wing pilot program that you could look into but I think it may have gone the...
Given the reported events, why did the prosecution proceed with a charge? Seems like an injustice that the accused and his family had to live with this hanging over their heads for such a long time. Sympathies to both the Walsh and Fraser families.
That was good gents.
I agree, whether you're pushing buttons or hand flying, it's a pretty small part of the upgrade. That sort of stuff gets sorted out pretty early in the game.
I was thinking that part of the rational behind the rumour (full tour as cone) might be retention. A couple...
There are some OJT guys I work with going directly to MJ (PFT bypass) based on aviation college programs (Confed/Chicoutimi/Sault etc.). They're definitely not ROTP.
To be honest, I have heard of this sort of thing becoming common place.
MJ is definitely a challenging course...listen/do what your instructors suggest, work hard and play hard.
You know that the people that went before you said the same thing. I've yet to find a course in the military that didn't used to be umpteen times more difficult as told by those who have completed it.
The best advise I rec'd prior to MJ was to "have fun and enjoy it". If playing your vidiah...

From what I've seen, CEOTP guys seem to have at least started some post secondary schooling and most seem to have a commercial licence (CPL). I think the U of Winnipeg has a distance-learning Military Studies...
Must be nice to have the extra YFR. We're having a hard time finding the hours to tick off a prof IRT, let alone maintain currencies for overseas obligations.
Wow, I'm still in awe of how quickly this all came together. Well done to all those who helped to make it happen.
As an aside...from the previous page:
I sincerely hope that this was a poor assumption by the press.

Of course, not as smooth or as pretty as a Herc, but obviously capable despite the turbo-fans.
There was a rumour a couple of months ago that they were going to load a couple of FE's onto the C17 Loadmaster Course. I haven't really heard anything since. The arguement was that the position was not a pure LM or FE but more of a flight-master or load-engineer. IMO, the more the merrier.
