    Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

with his ego I would more imagine him leaving on the first available chartered jet. "I will just take my bat and go home, so there". And he will blame all Canadians for not being mature enough to see his vision for Canada when he does it. Your way would be the 'adult' way to do it.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

shouldn't it depend upon whether the instructor is simply instructing or is involved in day to day supervision as well. An individual who has elected to go non-ops and simply teach should not be paid equivalent to a qualified individual who is doing the work. They have elected to go into a...

EV's, Gas/Oil, and The Future- another swerve split from- JT Hints Boosting Canada’s Military Spending

So, it is really only cost effective, even for governments, if someone else pays for the vehicle in the first place or at least subsidizes it significantly.

you can walk away, at least in the agricultural end of things but, you cannot seek out another employer. You have to go home

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

too true but it doesn't cancel the question: the discussion was about using the vessel in the arctic where ice is a known hazard to navigation. How would the hull stand up to an unexpected impact with ice at speed? Does the shape of the hull tend to deflect fod?

Foreign Workers: Political/Labour effects (split from 2024 UK rioting thread)

you might also add that you import another whole series of court cases when the TFW files to stay in Canada, bumps a legitimate immigrant who has followed the rules. SeaKing hit it right on: eventually employers will pay enough or they won't get workers. Even with skilled trades employers...

oh really? All those stories I was told growing up about pilots satisfying their curiosity re: why there were placarded restrictions on exceeding specific turn rates and speeds were just tall tales?

so not only has Trudeau screwed up Canada in general he has also taken dead aim at his own party and will leave in a vulnerable position

what happens to the hull integrity when it hits a growler? The videos have it moving at a significant speed and I can't imagine some 19 year old actually being cautious when he has all that power available

AB Premier reveals plans to transfer hospitals from AHS

it seems that all health services believe in the bigger is better notion. In Ontario almost all of the smaller hospitals have been shut down and all services moved to centralized locations which may or may not be close at hand. Your family doctor has been replaced by a clinic. Our closest...

    The War in Ukraine

At the moment, Ukraine is more or less holding its own but it wouldn't take much of a push to bring them to the brink. If that happens, Ukraine becomes a border zone protecting Russia whilst Russia gears up and goes for its next target only its next target will be either a NATO member such a...

    Cost of housing in Canada

There are a number of conservation properties in Ontario that are owned by various municipalities and they have leased out the land. A number of indigenous groups are also leasing out land on lakes for cottages; any number of which would qualify as 4 season homes as they are quite substantial...

    Replacing the Subs

would it not also depend upon whether it is red or blue that is reigning in OW at the time the contract is signed? The cons might be a little more aggressive than a party which is ruled partially by the NDP.

    2024 Rail Strike (or not?)

ditto but not every shift change. The U.S. preferred shift schedule for their controllers was 6 hours on 12 hours off before the next shift and 4 shifts in 3 days. Canada was a minimum of 8 hours on a short change with the employee's consent.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

indeed, but the first thing I noticed, and yes I guess I am being nitpicky, is that our colours are not clearly visible on either vessel whereas the U.S. flag is both huge and in plain sight

Pro/Anti Child Bearing Policies (split from "Canada don’t matter" thread)

I agree with your statements except the one about house size. Most new construction that I have seen features 3 bedrooms or more and many are the 2500 sq. ft. variety. I wonder if it is more that they wait so long because they had to or thought they had to get set up with the housing and...

Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

There are hospitals, correctional services and a number of municipalities that work on the same principal, heck, even educations boards prefer to have casuals rather than staff vacant positions so it isn't a big bad industry thing entirely
