    Merged 64 Pattern Rucksack thread

Having read this thread numerous times, as well other, 64-pack, threads, a few questions still remain. 1. It's not clear to me from the pictures, nor from the description, whether or not the Drop-Zone shoulder straps have release buckles like the CP gear ones do. Can anyone confirm/deny this...

    Prince Harry Graduates from Sandherst

A good article about Prince Harry, third-in-line for the throne, graduating from Sandherst military academy, having finish his officer training: http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=560652006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_pictures/4902628.stm "Scotsman.com News Wednesday, 12th April 2006 UK...

    Record numbers at Recruiting Centers?

I just recently got into the Black Watch, and this issue came up. Anecdotal evidence, but I hear that last year we had somewhere around 5-10 recruits, this year we have 30 sworn in, and another 20-30 going through the paperwork. Apparently, there has been an increase in highschool recruiting...

Sworn in, summer course Confirmed: After a Long Delay

Although it's debatable as to how many people care that I successfully completed "the recruiting process," I thought I'd post anyway. After applying for the reserve "direct entry programme for officer" I was turned down at my interview last January on account of what some would say was being...

Communist Canada? and a Nation without a army

I'd like to throw in my two cents re: farmers fighting. From August to November, I hitch-hiked from Quebec to the coast of BC and back, and I'll tell you, perhaps it's not the farmers that will fight, but that a lot of Northern Canadians--largely rural folk--hold strong views about sovereignty...

    Merged 64 Pattern Rucksack thread

Well, based on the mixed reviews I've gotten, I might just hold out until I go to basic, and make a decision after that, or, if some big hike does appear on the horizon, bite the CP-bullet, and just get the pack and make up my own mind. Once again, thak you for the replies, gentlemen.

    Merged 64 Pattern Rucksack thread

First off, thanks for all the comments--in regards to basic training, aye, I'll run with whatever they give me, and in regards to the pack in the picture being a different, modular, pack--I was unaware, and so I appreciate the info. However...I still want/need a ruck for civilian purposes, and...

    Merged 64 Pattern Rucksack thread

'afternoon, all, I'm looking at purchasing a 64 rucksack from our friends at Canadian Peacekeeper, and would like some advice. Background: I am *not* in the reserve/reg forces at the moment, but am re-applying this september for the reserve entrey scheme for (infantry) officer, here in Quebec...

    Non Christian Chaplain: Possible?

Good evening, all. With my application on hold until September, I've been re-considering my options for the reserve, and having thought of a question for which I could not find an answer neither here, nor on the DND website, decided to formally ask it. A little background: I am finishing my...

Previous drug use question 2002 - 2018 [Merged]

Good evening all, On Thursday, January 6th, I wrote my aptitude test to begin the process to become an officer in the reserve. After the test, I filled out the drug questionaire to the best of my memory--but the thing is, even thought i hadn't done anything for at least 2 years, the "last time"...

    Boot gash

As i recall from cadet days, it actually is possible, but it will take hours upon hours of shining to accomplish...i've had some success with smaller gashes/dents, even on my civilian leather hiking boots. However, aye--exchanging them might be the most practical course of action. Good luck!

HM. Queen Elizabeth II's Christmas Message to the Commonwealth

First of all, Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays to all of you. I hope that this greeting finds you well. I would like to take this opportunity to post a transcription of the Queen's, H.M. Queen Elizabeth the Second's, Christmas message to the commonwealth, of which we are a part. <a...

    Your Beer Brand of Choice

Beer wise, I like the straightforward, classoc, "Export," if we're talking about generic beers. For more specific/harder to find ones, i like the Quebecois brewery, Unibroue...they make some fine, and very unique, products.

The Shaving Superthread- All You Want and More....

I had similar problems, until an old cadet friend of mine suggested that I shave at night, before I pack it in. Six to seven hours later, when I get up, I find that the shave has "lasted," and any irritation that might have occurred right after shaving has gone away. This is especially useful on...

    All About RESO (merged)

Redeye, I am a student studying at McGill, who has just applied to the modern day RESO program. Can you provide any more information than you already have? The recruiting officer I spoke to wasn't sure of the programme's details, and thought I might *have* to do my BMQ during the spring, on the...
