    Looking to remuster to Medic

If you're talking about the credentials of St John's FA/CPR instuctors we have to go through the St. John's Amb. instructor course. And for BMQ it usually would be standard FA but I'm sure thats not the rule. At 23 Fd Amb we have quite a few SJA FA/CPR instructors and we're always going on pre...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

I hear ya. I'm a St. John's FA instuctor as well but trust me I'm not a slave to it's policy, or the CF's regarding the absolute need to have it in theatre. I'm not sure about your experiences with medics or medic trained infanteers but not all of us think you can save the world by pushing on...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

I know that uncontrolled bleeding was the leading cause of death of soldiers during the Vietnam War, thus TCCC states that the bleed should be controlled prior to anything else. I'm not intending to insult your common sense but we're not going to piss around with an airway if dosent need to be...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

Amen  ;D In regards to ParaMedtech's suggestion of combat arms troops that happen to be paramedics provide cas care, what if they had some affliliation to the closest Fd Ambs that would recognize their individual quals. If they recognize med tech's quals as ACP or PCP why not Bombardier...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

Hey Old Medic. as it pertains to me it was actually my CO who is an MO who said I can practice as an ACP while wearing green, so did my DCO who is a NO and my RSM is a PA. I hope this is enough to allow me to practice. What do you think? Obviously I have to prove my quals yearly. I would like...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

Duh! ::) I just got the jist of your post. Infanteers, gunners, sappers, and armoured troops that have civy paramedic quals should be able to provide cas care to their own in a tacitcal situation, by all means. Like you said they already have the tactical awareness and the combat experience...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

WOW! Your synopsis is bang on. You're absolutely right that detached medics to cbt arms units tend to consider themselves members of that unit as opposed to the Fd Amb that pays them. Why? I feel, at least in my case, that medics are a valued commodity to that unit. And the unit we support make...

    Driver's License

Right then. Consider me now informed. Thanks. :salute:

    Driver's License

Maybe I misunderstood the post that I responded to about having a fully graduated drivers licence but I assumed we were talking about a civilian fully graduated drivers licence. From what I understand you dont need a civilian licence to drive a military amb. And when I said time in that's what...

    Driver's License

I haven't heard anything regarding a med tech needing a fully graduated licence. You go on a driver wheel course, put your time in on LSVW or CUCV and then you get troop qualified. 404's is all you need for an amb driver. I dunno bout MP's.

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

RN RPN,     Just a quick question. I understand that TCCC is for non-medical pers, and that it is utilized by troops prior to a medic arriving on the scene. So asside from the standard fd dressing who will carry the medical kit needed for TCCC. Will everyone have to carry med supplies during...

    Paramedicine '05

I'm one of the lucky nominee's from LFCA to be nominated by their home units to be able to attend this years conference.   It's a great opportunity to kill two birds, I get civilian CME for going as well so no case studies this year for my recert! Yeehoo!! ;D I'm curious to know if this is...

Are we prepard for a terrorist attack or any other attack

It's fair for you to say that Canadian security procedures are lacking when compared to US borders and bases. In some ways I agree. And due to recent world events that I think that Canadians in general have terrorism on their minds more now than in the past. But I feel that if terrorists...

    Replacement Ambulances

I think that the Bison is the best vehicle we have so far for field evacs etc. and for road use I can see the arguement for another cucv type amb. but on a milcot frame. Maybe a two tiered system would work where the Bison would move cas. from the field or in battle zone areas to a UMS and then...

    Replacement Ambulances

If we're just talking 4 wheeled vehicles you can add an ambulance box compartment to any chassis.   With all the bells and whistles pretty much standard equipment.(ie; lights, suction, seating and storage). The hard part is deciding which chassis to go with.   However if the christmas wish list...

    Replacement Ambulances

I've been lookoing at our vehicle lines lately and I see four vintage (80's) cucv ambs.   As a member of our units amb pl. I've worked with these ambs quite a bit.   I'm just wondering if and by what are these vehicles going to be replaced with.(I'm wise enough not to ask when they will be...

    Unit level training.

Just thought I'd start some discussion about what kind of things, other than MCSP etc. can be used for unit level training. I'd like to hear from all Fd ambs reg or res to find out what kind of training you do. I was wondereing about a possible topic for unit training ie) parade nights. As a...

    Canadian soldiers return to Kandahar

I would like to think that ALL members of the forces would be chomping at the bit to be able to practice the skills and the training and show our determination to do the job required of us to the citizens of Canada and the rest of the world.  Canadian taxpayers need to see what their forces can...

    Terror Attacks on London England - 07 Jul 05 & 21 Jul 05

With all due respect..We can huff and we can puff but untill we can track down ALL the terrorists EVERWHERE we can only beat them by carrying on. Dont let them think they've driven a stake into the western infidels' heart. Just keep on keepin on. If we give them the impression that they ruined...
