The new Block III Super Hornets that Boeing rolled out of final assembly I've noticed don't have the Conformal Fuel Tanks on them. Are those able to be attached afterwards?
The article I read said the Block III Super Hornet has shoulder mounted conformal fuel tanks. Mounted sounds like it can...
There's no use purchasing a new fighter to save money on some runways when said fighter could be obsolete in 25 years.
I think the F35 will be the fighter for the foreseeable future and if we want a fighter that isn't obsolete by 2060 then get the best fighter you can buy. Not the one that is...
Are you talking about an increase for all CF members? I heard this also but I wasn't sure. When was the last one, 2017?
I heard there's talks about technicians receiving more pay based on their qualifications/authorizations. Such as aquiring Journeyman status, Performance of Maintenance (POM)...
This is exactly what they're doing.
They're using the Super Hornet for space requirements and design purposes and are also planning on building hangarettes for 37 fighters in Cold Lake.
I was mistakenly under the impression that Finland recieved bids in early 2019, then later that year they requested revised bids, and that's when SAAB and Boeing offered the GlobalEye and Growler. But after reading more into it, I see that they were always on the table.
I wonder.. if Finland...
Looking at Finland's HX Competition (https://www.defmin.fi/en/administrative_branch/strategic_capability_projects/hx_fighter_program/hx_fighter_program/hx_fighter_program_timeline#47d08352) they stated, "The request for information sent out in spring 2016 contained descriptions of fights that...
Maybe the students who don't make it through Fighter school at 410 could go over to the Growler, instead of going back to Moose Jaw to fly rotor or fixed, if the reason they weren't successful in Fighter school was for reasons specific to the Super Hornet.
All of this to say if Canada selects...
The requirements being to defend Canada and Canadian sovereignty and contribute to our NORAD and NATO commitments, now and in the future.
I think some EA-18s would help in this aspect.
Who flies the EA-18s in the USN? Are they F/A-18 Pilots that fly and the EWO in the back? Or do they have specific pilots to fly EA-18s?
The RCAF would probably have to have CF-18 pilots fly the CE-18 Growler and perhaps have ACSO's in the backseat. Of course, this would mean more recruiting...
I came across this article about the EA-18G Growler and it's cabilities. Got me thinking if maybe Boeing would include it in their offering to Canada, and if so would that be included in the 88 Fighters requested or an addition. Say, 88 Block III Super Hornets and 8 Block II Growlers.
I don't...
So even before COVID, the RCAF was reducing Pilot intake to reduce the number of candidates on BTL. Folks would wait longer for training than the training itself.
Seneca candidates are priority loaded on flight training and are loaded ahead of DEO candidates and RMC graduates who have already...
I just read (I don't know if I'm allowed to share the link or not) that the RCAF will not be sending candidates to Seneca college as of September 2021 due to a reduction in hiring this year from COVID and expected to carry forward to the next two to three years.
I wonder if this means more...
How's everyones file going so far?
I sent mine up through the CoC abour a week ago. I still have 3 university courses to complete by December (Macroeconomics, Principles of Marketing, and Business Ethics).
I saw the tilting wings back and forth before that. Is that considered a salute/wave?
And a headbutt... is that to advize the "visitor" (B-52) to change course? Maybe because they were nearing Russian airspace?
