    [REVISITED] Calling All Recruit Instructors!

I couldn't agree with you more however, this scenario isn't limited to the reserves. Curious, do the reserves get a recruiting allowance of any sort if they join an understrngthed trade?

    [REVISITED] Calling All Recruit Instructors!

I honestly think that we need to bring back the in your face, ball busting training regime of the past. If these kids are as spoiled as we say they are then they need a rude awakening if they want to serve beside me overseas.

    LCIS227 Info

PS - About the log book. As a 211 (now 215), we had to an OJT package for our 4's which could be seen as a log book of sorts.

    LCIS227 Info

According to the CFSCE website there is only a LCIS Apprentice (QL3) crse and a LCIS Supervisors crse. For the Supervisor crse there is a prerequisite for a journeyman (QL5) qualification however, there is no information on the journeyman's course.

    Is A Release A Release?

Upon release you are asked if you want to be put on a supplementary reserve list. This is supposed to make it easier if you decide to join up again or join a reserve force.  Theoretically, the sup res list could also be used to call you back for duty but I don't that has ever been executed in...

    [REVISITED] Calling All Recruit Instructors!

Excellent point Jungle. I find parents today (my household excluded), pass on the "NO! You might get hurt" mentality that used to linger in the mist of big town suburbs.

    Older Recruits?

Sigs! I'm surprised to hear that the younger recruits are having a harder time at keeping up with the older recruits. Something must happen between what I assume to be CFSCE and here because it's our older recruits that are falling apart. Well, more than our young recruits. I remember my old...

    AK47 vs. C7 or M16

I don't think this thread is about feeling unarmed with our issued weapons. Don't get me wrong, I find the C7 an extremely fine piece of kit. I believe that this is a great thread about the pros and cons of both weapons. I for one have gained a wealth of information and insight into the topic.

    AK47 vs. C7 or M16

PS - Here is an example of poor love towards a C7... I was safety staff on a range not too long ago. A certain individual (rank and gender omitted here) proceeded to raise themselves from the kneeling by using the muzzle of their weapon then proceeded to take aim with a muzzle full of grass and...

    [REVISITED] Calling All Recruit Instructors!

The early years of St Jean sound a lot like the times at Cornwallis. I remember getting a pace stick to the back of the head on day 2, stripping the floors every night followed by 2 or 3 coats of wax and rushed meals with a side of instructor crap while eating. My neighbours wife is currently...

    AK47 vs. C7 or M16

Ghost, even though I'm a Jimmy, I hope you're not suggesting that I don't take care of my weapon! ;)

    AK47 vs. C7 or M16

Well, I'm not a weapons tech nor am I a weapons freak BUT we do bi-annual training on foreign weapons (as many of you may do) and from that I must say, without actually firing an AK series weapon, I don't fully understand why we haven't adopted the weapon here in Canada. I haven't heard of...

How many Canadians are presently serving in the US military?

They wear and use their own kit, just like foreign militaries do when they are attached to us.

    Military Discounts List

OLeary has the right idea, every MFRC should have a list of places that offer a discount to military personnel for their area. I do have to say one thing, our perks are no where near that of our US counterparts. I spent 6 months working at USCENTCOM in Tampa, FL (yeah, it was a nice ride) and...
