    leaving camp on weekends early

It is usually possible, as long as your not missing any really important information (like a PO test or something similar). Talk to your PltComd when you get to camp and they'll try and help you out.

Anybody do the NSCE exam this year? and how was it?

Oh sorry you did Bravo in 2004, I did it in 2005. I missed that. But I know your sister, as my Sgt was going out with her or something like that. I was around Bravo a lot though in 2004 I had two really good friends in Bravo, actually you probably know them- Birkett and Lang.

Anybody do the NSCE exam this year? and how was it?

That hotel was pretty good. I hear a few people got hot tubs and jaccuzis in their rooms, it was pretty sweet. If your from 2525 then your RSM(black guy, he is a jumper as well) was my syndicate RSM. You did Bravo? Do I know you?

Extra things to bring (but aren't on the list) to camp

Good call on the water shoes, even better than sandals. A balaclava would be good at night but during the day when it is really hot, it is best to stick with cam paint and a tilly, instead of overheating with a balaclava.

Extra things to bring (but aren't on the list) to camp

Don't bother bringing a GPS, A)because you will not need it and B) they will probably confiscate it. The two pieces of extra kit that were most popular in Adventure last year were little camping chairs and hydrapacks (you could only use them on the ftx or canoe trip though). Also bring wet...

    what qualifications do you have?

Thats a little arrogant, don't you think? What makes you sure that you recieve the Lord Strat or Legion? I can tell you that you won't be awarded both because they can't be awarded in the same year.

    Can someone help me?

My bad, sorry about that. Saw that it said you were a GGFG in your profile, but you explained that.

    Can someone help me?

Kid_Recruit, If I were you I'd be careful about what you are saying on this board. I know for a fact that there is a former RSM and a current RSM from your cadet corps who visit this forum. I also know that the GGFG are an amazing corps who have produced some amazing cadets. I don't know how...

    Wanted: Pace Stick

I bought a 20mm and a .50 cal casing off ebay recently and the cane is currently in the works. My Affiliated Regiment gives  Black drill canes to SSMs and the RSM, they do not use a pace stick. The canes do not use casings as the ends of the cane, but as the casings were all I could find I'll...

    Camp Experiences

The best way to clean your tent is to find out what people are good at and then split them up according to that. I have always been good at making a pretty sharp bed so I would end up doing beds, while someone else would be dusting or lining up everyones boots etc. You can also rotate people...

    Para... Advance Training...

Germany is a really good exchange, while I was in Connaught three years ago for Basic Marksman I talked to a few cadets who did the exchange and they all had a blast. You get to do familiarization training with all the German small arms, I heard you get to do training on their Leopard tanks...

    Weapons Training

Cadets are also allowed to shoot large bore I believe. As long as the RSO is certified for large bore (which I believe CIC RSOs are not certified for) then the cadets can shoot large bore i.e. Lee Enfields in .303, C7 etc.

    Para... Advance Training...

USA exchange is supposed to be the most physically demanding of the exchanges. You do the Young Marines survival course in Utah, it sounds pretty neat but very demanding.

    Field Formations.

Those ones are all in the handbook I believe. Does anybody know what the hand signals for Deploy and All around defence? I learned them on my patrollin ex this summer but for the life of me I can't remember.

    Wanted: Pace Stick

Well I wanted to get a good quality drill cane but they seem to be hard to find, then I tried making one but couldn't get my hands on a 25mm Casing. So now even though it goes against what the Regiment does I think that I may pick up a black pace stick from Penny's. Does anybody know of what...

    Riding Troop

I understand that they don't serve the same function as the other demo teams but they have more than a few horses. They have a good number of horses probably about 20 or 30(Don't think they have enough riders for them though). When my cadet corps visited the stable they had about 15 training and...

Incentive Pay Category For Cadets Joining The CF

Is this Incentive just something that has remained intact from the 80s, when cadets used FNs, learned section attacks etc. on a frequent basis? Therefore they had some skills that would help them in the military and it made sense to give them an incentive. Then when the cadet program changed to...

    Camp Experiences

Connaught has a weird way of choosing staff, well at least thats the feeling I got from a guy who staffed there last year. He was a M/cpl, gold star qualifed, and he had done CL. He staffed CLI Marksman as a Sgt, which is stupid considering he hadn't even done CLI.

    Advanced training advice, please?

As long as your fit enough for Para and have a high mark on NSCE you should be able to do both Leadership and Challenge and Para. I am turning 16 in May so I should be ok but I want to do an exchange this summer and then Para next. I checked with my officers and that is perfectly fine, well at...
