Indeed.
OS news is limited, but I'm inclined to buy myself a ticket to Hawaii this summer to cheer on my GA colleagues.

Very cool to see this capability quickly maturing.
Should also be interesting to see it fully integrated into the RIMPAC Task Groups this summer! π

Japan has been eagerly trying to find an export customer for P-1 for many years.

I've been impressed by P-1 capabilities, but I think spares/parts availability would be a substantial issue for any international...
Coincidentally, I was just chatting with an RAF colleague this morning about this very topic.
RAF has pushed out an email saying it was rejected outright.

LOL. You can impress your friends with your new-found knowledge of USN stock sonobuoys. A "Cliff Claven" moment for the crew room!
You're going to have to trust me on this one. ;)
Actually, that SSQ-101 ADAR is one of the most modern (and effective) sonobuoys available right now. P-8A continues to employ it exclusively for Enhanced Multistatic reception. A marvel of mechanical engineering and incredibly expensive...

Or, while waiting for an MPA replacement, just add maritime requirements & capability into the (soon-ish) expected RPA. Perhaps one that is already performing integration exercises with the USN and allies...

If selected as a CH148 AES Op, you'll probably get more sea-time than most sailors too.
