If there is any org in the CF that could make a case for a releasable vest I would think it would be the boarding parties. Being able to dump my rig and armour instantly if I went in the water would be 100 times more important than having a vest in AR CADPAT. MSA Paraclete RAV

I have a Norc 870 and M14 copy and they are both excellent quality for the price.  That being said you can't go wrong with a Glock!  ;)

Not quite, the CP teams are issued their gear to meet the requirement of the task, it's not the members getting permission to wear their own kit. Someone, somewhere has made the case that the issue kit is insufficient for the job and has had the gear purchase approved and funded... I'm sure...

I've heard the same thing about how leaving mags loaded will weaken the spring and cause malfunctions from DLR reps, it's WRONG! Springs do not weaken from being under tension, they weaken by either exceeding their elastic deformation limits or by repeated cycling...  ::)

Well aware of that, I should have been more clear. The part about the SAW nutsacks was in response to Kevins833 post about using multiple teaser bags (for the C6) as mags, how many SAW gunners run their gun using that concept with the nutsacks. Different gun, similar idea. cheers, C-6

Have you checked out lightfighter.net? There is a ton of info on that forum and the US uses the same gun. I recall that many of the SAW gunners use the 100rnd nutsacks on their LMG's. They would carry 4 on their vest instead of two 200rnd boxes...

To add more confusion, an icepick/prison shiv vest is not the same as a blade vest. I had a conversation with a BAE Systems armour rep recently at a trade show and he had both models on display, along with the standard testing blades. The ice pick vest was very thin and light, much thinner...
