    Performance Oriented Electronic Training (POET)

Don't know what trade of techs you are referring. The techs I know and work with in the EO world use it alot more than you'd think. Mostly Ohms law, and some solid state and digital theory.

The 2008 Canadian Election- Merged Thread

From the PAFFO note I was forwarded, it mentioned that we are not to comment on the upcoming election while in uniform. It said nothing about off duty hours.

Which technician trade would I be best suited for?

To answer the second half of your post, EO Techs are found on bases from coast to coast. The trade is very small, approx 300 all ranks, and the scope of equipment is quite large. We are found with most first line army units and base maintenance workshops. Being posted to Quebec could be a huge...

Which technician trade would I be best suited for?

EO Tech is a regular force trade only. The recruiting office should be able to tell you which courses may be bypassed, such as BMQ and SQ if you have taken them as a reservist. I have no idea on POET, but that would again be a recruiter issue depending on what certificates you hold. Certified...

Which technician trade would I be best suited for?

Essentially for the Army EO Techs repair everything that you plug into a wall or look through. There are exceptions, like radios and medical equipment but everything else is normally our ball of wax. In the field we are the hydro company, Thermal imagery, night vision, lasers are all optonic...

    Tom Clancy

I've always thought Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series was an awesome read.... If you want to comment on repetitive read a few of WEB Griffins books. Half the bloody things are a description of the previous novel in the series..

All things LASIK surgery (aircrew/other -- merged)

Just had mine done on July 18th. I underwent the custom wavefront PRK as LASIK wasn't right for me. The first 4 days post surgery were the worst as the contact lens that they install for PRK got quite irritating. I could drive, legally, after 6 days. I took the antibiotic drops for one week, the...

    weapons tech training question

During the OJT period there is little chance of going on tour. Your main focus is getting your QL4 (OJT) done and go on your QL5. In the tech world, EME especially, until your have your QL5 you are not considered qualified to sign off on your work or basically entrusted to work with minimal...

    EME Cap Badge

Officers wear a cloth badge. It is different than the NCM cloth badge and it is worn with all forms of dress. As for when they get it, I don't know. IMHO, it should be during their phase training, after their EME indoc, whenever that is.

All things LASIK surgery (aircrew/other -- merged)

I've done the research (civvy side) and have scratched the surface on military side and am considering having either Wavefront PRK or Wavefront LASIK surgery done to correct my vision. I have researched the hell out of it and feel confident that this is the right choice for me for work and...

Infantry or Vehicle Tech? What to do...

I'm no veh tech, but have been in EME (Electrical Mechanical Engineers) for 18+ years. EME is comprised of EO, Wpns, Mat and Veh Techs. Do you have your mechanics papers? Did they offer you some sort of bypass or signing bonus? If you have your papers I would definitely inquire into this for the...

The General Hillier Years. The Merged Superthread

Maybe a good job would be as a civilian instructor at the Leadership Acedemy. Maybe if we can get to the young 'uns before they get assimilated in with the rest of the ticket punchers we might have a shot at actually having folks who follow the Principles of Leadership rather than see them as a...

    Malingering

I suppose a charge of malingering would come into effect, and could even raised by a MO, if a soldier being treated for an ailment, such as a bad back or other, is witnessed doing something outside of the soldiers MEL. An example of this could be instances when soldiers participate...

CF Looking to Buy More M777s

Agreed, however the volume of pumpkins being lobbed while training here in Garri-Trooper land are nowhere near the ones being heaved overseas and alot of the issues are the same. The issues mentioned by snowpuncher are very valid and I agree with him fully. We were the first to use these weapons...
