I know that the CIC world is different by leaps and bounds in some areas, but they're already doing trials for some courses to be made fully online (admin and supply are the two I know of). Even for those short and simple classes it is, in my opinion, and heard from others who've done it, harder...

Just a note of interest. The RCR's sister Regiment is the RJR. Yup, Royal Jamaican Regiment. Always liked that one. And I'm not in the RCR, I'm a CIC type for the time being...

That's correct, there is no C7 component to any CIC training. That doesn't mean it can't happen just that it's not the most useful skill for a CIC officer.

http://www.regions.cadets.forces.gc.ca/pac/rcis/BOQCourse_Info_e.asp this will show you what PO/EO's are being taught on BOQ. I can't remember where you can download the lessons from, there are a few of the PIPs there which should help at least some.

I think the idea of more rural units is a good one. I think this because I come from rural SK and lived 1 1/2 hours from my closest reserve unit (Saskatoon or Prince Albert, A and B Coy NSaskR, respectively), and the next closest units were the "Yorkton Battery" and the all the untis in Regina...

Michael, thanks for that. GW, I'm sorry, I chose my words poorly, it wasn't my intent but I didn't say anything else in support. A good lesson in "impact, not intent".

It is quite interesting that we would let someone soldier before they are legally allowed to do a lot of things soldiers do. I'm not sure of the reasons for it all so I won't speculate.

It has been my experience, for the limited amount I have, that people are generally uninformed about the CF. To promote interest it helps to give someone an understanding of what can or does happen to soldiers. I also know a lot of people aren't going to go out of their way to find out about it...
