    New Dress Regs 🤣

I wasn't referring to any specific change, as I'm not familiar with them. Just saying I would be opposed to changing dress regs for people to look more individual or different from everyone else. Different coloured hair as well as piercings, etc. should be enough for a person to express their...

    Updated Army Service Dress project

Yes sorry, brain fart. Typed NCO when I meant NCMs. Though the square rig looks sharp and definitely more navy-like, it would cost a lot more to go back to that. I don't expect that to happen.

    New Dress Regs 🤣

I can understand the military trying to get more recruits by appealing to a wider section of the public, hence the change in regs for hair, piercings, tatoos, etc. What I don't agree with is any changes to uniform regs, uniforms are supposed to be just that - UNIFORM (the same for everyone), but...

That reminds me, bring back the square rig uniform for the RCN NCOs!! :p

    Updated Army Service Dress project

OK, didn't realize that. Thanks for the info. Don't agree with units wearing both cloth shoulder flashes and the metal pin-on shoulder titles. Get rid of the metal pin-ons, more expensive to produce and the cloth shoulder flashes look better IMO.

    Updated Army Service Dress project

OK, so I'm bringing this thread back to the original topic (don't shoot me). With the retro look army uniform coming out, should the army bring back the embroidered regiment titles on the shoulder of the tunic sleeve? If you think about it, why do we need all uniforms to have a CANADA shoulder...

    Replacing the Subs

De-unify the armed forces into the Canadian Army and RCN (with their respective air forces - we don't have, or will ever have enough air assets for a fully functional, separate RCAF). Having 2 separate military entities, with their own separate budget would require the gov't to increase...

Special Service Medal - Domestic Operations Bar

I was just making the point that I didn't envision it to be a strictly military honour, but a national one that would be available to those who participated in a national emergency, be they civilian or military. Not that it really matters, as I'm sure the Gov't of Canada will never issue a...

Special Service Medal - Domestic Operations Bar

I had a similar idea awhile ago about recognizing CF service in Canada with a new medal, which I thought could be called the "National Emergency Medal" (or something along that line). This was to have bars for various crisis and/or emergencies such as; FLQ, OKA, ICE STORM, WILD FIRES, FLOOD...

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

It would make sense to make the GTA a separate province. They have a bigger population than other provinces that aren't ONT or QUE. The Gov't of ONT could focus on other parts of the province. I think that the same thing could be done for Montreal (and, as I posted before, Ottawa). There...

How about a return of the Yukon hat? (ducks for cover) :p

Canada's civil service is world's most effective: UK report

I wish the press would stop using -gate at the end of words to talk about every political scandal (especially if not at all similar to the Watergate scandal in the '70s). Getting kind of pathetic.

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

National Capital Region (Ottawa/Gatineau) should be given separate federal status (similar to a province). Maybe call it the National Capital Territory (NCT), with the NCT gov't the one clearly having jurisdiction over the whole area. Probably will never happen, but might work better IMO.

    Updated Army Service Dress project

But that's the (original) French version, which is different from the English version. Just sayin'. As far as a purple uniform goes, that would fit well with the "purple" trades. ;) Why stop there? Rifle green uniforms for rifle regiments, scarlet for regular infantry, blue for cavalry...

    Updated Army Service Dress project

As the US anthem was mentioned, "The Star Spangled Banner" was written about the bombardment of Baltimore during the War of 1812, strangely enough, a war they lost. (They don't think so). I have no problem with the Canadian national anthem BTW. Just realized this is in a thread about uniforms...

Military concerned by Canada's absence from American-British-Australian security pact

He should have, but from what I've read, it seems that he had too big of an ego. He did quit the Liberal party and started his own political party in '73. It didn't go anywhere though.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Exactly! CCG goes back to being Marine Services Canada and does the same job they do now.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Actually, they were originally the Marine Service of Canada (Marine, as in pertaining to the ocean). You could change the name to Marine Services Canada and the only thing that would need to be physically changed, would be the Gov't of Canada shoulder flash. They would continue on doing the...
