The problem with this thread (and virtually all other CA related threads) is that how do you select equipment when you don't have a clear concept of operations and structure for the Army? Are we deploying Battle Groups? Brigades? Divisions?
Does the RRCA provide Close Support? General...
That's why we're purchasing enough equipment for the Latvia LIB to have at least a full duplicate set of kit in Canada in case we have to ship both the kit and personnel to Europe and fight our way through. Right? Right???
@KevinB beat me to much of what I was going to try and get at...
Just because Squads/Companies have access to systems with much greater range doesn't mean that they will disperse to cover much larger areas. While the situation in the Pacific (as noted above) is a unique situation that may...
Maybe somebody at Hanwha is reading our forum...

Truck mounting the same turret as the K9A2 Thunder (which has a 52 caliber gun).
Tracked K9A2 for the Armoured Brigades

There was a recent podcast on the Modern War Institute "Defending Against Drones" that discussed a recent deployment of 2nd BCT, 10th Mountain Division to Iraq and Syria with the Brigade Commander. During their deployment they were targeted by over 100 one-way attack drones, which is more than...
True, but engaging the launch location of a fire-and-forget missiles AFTER you detect the launch signature doesn't help the tank much. Same for N-LOS launches.
Video reportedly showing successful engagement of a top-attack missile by an Israeli Trophy-equipped Merkava tank:

It would seem pretty obvious that an APS system will be a "must have" for any new tank...
Back when we had the standard "blue box" I'd sort all our recycling by type...glass, metal, paper, box board, cardboard, etc. Now we have a large, wheeled bin and they have us put everything together so the truck can lift and dump the bin without a human having to touch it.
I have ZERO faith...
Absolutely. Never buy based on the glossy brochure.
I think you put your finger on a major part of the problem right there.
Hopefully (not holding my breath) the renewed focus on the Arctic in "Our North Strong and Free" might see this program as something that could be expanded in order to...
I saw that too. I'm assuming it means that it can ford up to 2m depth without preparation for amphibious ops.
Was curious so did some digging and found an article on the DieselArmy website that talks about the BvS10 and it states:
"Unproven" and "not in service yet" are certainly valid considerations. You might end up with another Cyclone or Kingfisher. However if you never take ANY risk you don't see advancement. F-35's and River-Class are certainly risks but necessary risks to keep pace.
No idea why double the road...
Read an interesting article on the Corporal Frisk website about Patria showcasing a new ATV at EUROSATORY 24.
This vehicle is touted as a potential replacement for the BV206 in Finnish service.
A possible contender vs the BVs10 or Bronco 3 for Canada?
Like it or not, much of the open global trade structure that underpins our modern economies is based on the post-WW2 security guarantee provided by the United States.
Much of what makes modern commodities and technology so cheap and available around the entire globe is based on the fact that...
