That may be, but you can't be promoted to Pte (Basic), with the hook, without the QL3s. I can understand why a young soldier would be anxious about that.
Also, depending on which unit, it might be hard to do OJT, if there aren't many qualified clerks to assist.
Q1 Not that I have heard. It's full time, 2 week blocks in CFB Gagetown (at the moment).
Q2 As an officer, you are expected to parade more than the minimum. You have to lead from the front. In my unit, you are expected to make at least 75% of the training. The term is Non Effective...
From information I have received from my unit, and info from here, CAP is 10 weeks, broken into 5 x 2 weeks blocks IIRC. I would suggest that you get as much done at one time as you can. It could take up to 5 years only taking it in 2 weeks. That's an awfully long time, IMHO, to be a OCdt/2Lt...
This is what I understand from dealing with Junior Officers at my unit.
Q1. If you have a degree, you will be enrolled as a 2Lt. If not, you get commissioned after CAP. There isn't a CAP(R) anymore.
Q2. Phase I and II, under the RESO trg plan, would now be BOTP (R) and CAP. Phase III would...
And which exams would you like the reserve unit to avoid? High school, university courses with one midterm, university with 2 midterms, technical schools, all of them? As you can see, you can't avoid all of the exam periods.
If you want to give the funds over the the US to defend North America, then we lose some Canadian sovereignty. Later you stated you don't want Canada to be an extension of the US, but if they defend us, we become more of an extension.
As to the Calg Highrs losing their EME techs, it was more a question of getting the pers trained and allowing them to do their job. The permissive schedule for repairs is fairly restrictive, especially if there isn't a trained supervisor. The Svc Bns are having problems with this as well.

My understanding is that only Cl A has half days. Cl B/A contracts are for a specific period of time and are for full days. IIRC Cl B/A contracts are for longer periods of time and include some benefits.
Ummm, the Charter is part of the constitution.
Obviously you haven't study much law. Any judge can rule legislation unconstitutional. The only thing special about the Supreme Court of Canada is that their decisions can not be appealled. Just using the gay marriage, several of the provincial...
Log buttons aren't that hard to get. If you're not close to a base, try the Log Branch kitshop. http://www.forces.gc.ca/admmat/logbranch/Kitshop/kitsh_e.asp
I don't know if that's the way of the world with the CIC, but in the Reserves, troops are encouraged to buy their branch buttons (Log/EME) but they don't have to. It is common to see the issue LFC buttons and the Branch button on different people.
