What happens if you fail BMQ?

Lots of people fail basic training. IIRC my bmq course started off with about 62 people and ended up graduating around 40. People fail for different reasons. Some people are re-coursed to attempt it again, others are released from the military. I am a reservist but my bmq was about half...

    Wearing Uniform in Public (merged)

I'd be interested if someone would look this up. I've heard so many different opinions on whether or not you should wear your lid in your vehicle, on a bus, etc that I'd like the real goods on it. Also: my mates and I were going to go for a quick pint at the Fleet club the other day after...

    Medical process in Borden

I don't know how it's going now, but when I joined (2005) there were long delays in the process because there was a staff shortage in Borden to do the reviews. The rule-of-thumb at that time was 6 -9 weeks IIRC. If you've got any red flags, expect it to take longer. Good luck NavComm

Verification of Former Service (VFS) [Merged]

Irish, of course everyone needs sleep, the point I was trying to make is that it's not always going to be guaranteed that NJL will get up to 6 hours of uninterupted sleep. Nor can he expect to always sleep during the night. He might have watch, he might work a 12 hour night shift in the field...

Verification of Former Service (VFS) [Merged]

NJL I just re-read all your posts on this topic and I think it's you that doesn't understand. I think you have an idealized version of military life. I don't agree that it's a 'fact' that everyone requires 6 uninterupted hours of sleep a night. In fact, I had a sargeant tell me that a person...

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

Was I supposed to study for the aptitude test? Just kidding! There are many free online tests. So, before you go paying $140 (hmmm my spidey sense makes me wonder if he's got shares in that company) remember: Google is your friend. Personally, I thought the aptitude test was easy, but I know...

(muffin) Don't worry someone will make sure you get to do it again and that everyone goes easy on you. We wouldn't want to stress you out or make life difficult. Someone will undoubtedly make it fast and easy for you to get right back in there and do what you are destined for. :) Good luck. What...

CTV: Billions more for defence ...

I don't see what the big 'secret' is. The ITEE that just took place and is reported by Virginia Beaton at www.tridentnews.ca is just one example of the not-so-secret excercises that the military is conducting. The big question, IMO, is whether or not Canadians want to invest in their military...

    Any favourite BMQ memories?

all in all I did 17 weeks of bmq, 6 weeks last summer (rtu'd) and then 11 weeks Jan-Mar 06. I have a lot of fond memories but this one sticks out: During the Company Commander's inspection he asks my roommate: what is the large aperature on the C-7 rifle used for OS Bloggins? Bloggins: Not...
