I'll believe it when I see it.
Denmark is replacing their kit, so a win-win…aid and refresh the military.I’m very surprised the boy wonder in Ottawa hasn’t done this (yet):
What? And risk 9 infantry Bns?Pity successive Army commanders haven't prioritized indirect fires. Almost as if the Army needs a vision and consistent leadership that survives APS.
Thank you for citing the Army's vital ground.
Fuck no.I bet they get creative...
Easy way to get closer to 2% would be to transfer CCG to CAF.....
didnt they already do a bit of that?I bet they get creative...

What did the CCG do to deserve that fate? Oddly enough components of the RCAF marine service were transferred to the newly formed CCG back in 1962. Kitslano CCG base was a RCAF station, station, boats and personal were all turned into the CCG under Transport CanadaI bet they get creative...

LOL, how about transferring the Canadian Border Service Agency to the CAF, I mean they do carry personal sidearms.....Fuck no.
Have you met the Coast Guard?
You think we have problems now with ships/crewing….plus most of their mission set has nothing to do with Defence.
A better move would be to transfer military SAR to the Coast Guard…
There you go making sense again ....... A better move would be to transfer military SAR to the Coast Guard…
But then the RCAF would have to justify having Pararescuemen and Combat Search and Rescue. There you go making sense again ....
Hmmm. Isn’t the RCMP a Regiment?I bet they get creative...

Would they be better off reporting to the Public Safety Minister or Defence Minister (as more than a few other countries that have federal police forces - admittedly paramilitary types - do)? Discuss ...Hmmm. Isn’t the RCMP a Regiment?
I've always kind of wondered why they aren't part of the CAF. I know that they have talked about arming them in the past, but given the state of our navy, I'm surprised that their isn't a bigger push for it.I bet they get creative...

You can't just shovel trash into a hole and say you paved it.I never realised until now that the CCG was not a part of the CAF. Not because I never asked why or looked for it, but for me I thought the CCG was a different branch of the CAF. But yes, this would definately help the 2% objective plus it could be a lot more interesting to folks wanting to join, and a very valuable asset for patrolling the North sea.
