Referencing the posts of our distinguished veterans of years gone by, how far has the CA fallen.

It came with either bipod or tripod in WWII and KoreaI recall in 1977 a bipod and a shoulder stock attachment for the C5 was procured somehow so it could be employed without the tripod aka the "light" role.
It was a freakishly horrible idea.
The C5 was the Browning 1919A6, which was really just an improvement over the earlier 1919 which was pretty much an air cooled version of the 1917 watercooled machine gun.As far as I can recall originally developed for American airborne units to provide them with manportable firepower . It was supposed to be an analogue to the MG 34/42 GPMGs.
Replete with 1970s 'tache.
The 'tache has been there continuously for over 50 years (except for the 13 weeks(?) during basic training in Cornwallis - restarted it the first week of my TQ3). That pic is from the 1980s. The styling has changed occasionally, sometimes it's been full pornstache; sometimes well trimmed; it's been walrus-like; it's been waxed and handle-barred; it's been included with a full beard; but it's still there, just more gray than previously.
Also used by regular GI units. As far as I can recall originally developed for American airborne units to provide them with manportable firepower . It was supposed to be an analogue to the MG 34/42 GPMGs.
