AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

Here is a ship design proposal that is trying to do far too many things at once:

It’s almost
  • a San Antonio class but flight deck is too small.
  • a frigate or destroyer ala Absalon but too big for that
  • a replacement for Albion but nowhere near the capacity
  • a replacement for the Bay Class but too small, too complex, too well armed

And:
  • probably not an RFA
  • requires RFA skill sets already divested to the Bay class
  • likely nobody consulted the RM or RN who would have to use the thing.

On the foregoing basis, I see the RN ordering not 6 but 10 because they seem to check a lot of boxes in the fleet capability gap matrix.

Hey, procurement dumbassery isn’t limited to the CAF.

Kind of like the Big Cods old idea of a Big Honkin Ship.

Whatever happened to the Enforcer series?

The lines of that Ellida look similar to some of the Enforcer models.

The Karel Doorman is the Multi Role Support Ship that is what the Joint Support Ship was supposed to be.
